The 13-Moon Cycle

A Living Calendar for 2025–2026

Humanity has always looked to the Moon for rhythm, orientation, and meaning. Long before the invention of mechanical clocks or fixed calendars, people lived by the waxing and waning of the light overhead. Many Indigenous cultures—such as the Anishinaabe of North America—honored a 13-moon cycle, reflecting the natural number of lunar cycles that occur within one solar year.

Where the modern calendar is linear and fragmented, the 13-Moon cycle is circular, intuitive, and deeply connected to nature. Each moon carries its own teachings, seasonal qualities, and spiritual invitations. It is less about dates, and more about entering into relationship with the living world.

For the 2025–2026 cycle, we begin with the new moon of December 20, 2025, and follow the rhythm of each new or full moon that marks the transition to the next lunar phase.

Below is the Crown of Light 13-Moon Calendar for 2025–2026, with the traditional moon archetypes and their inner meanings.
