In this model, the Earthly Paradise (Paradiso Terrestre)<\/strong> lies on top of the Mountain of Purgatory<\/strong>. The structure is imagined as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The Earth Is the Center<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • At the very bottom is Hell<\/strong> (Inferno<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • From the depths, Dante (or the soul in a general sense) rises through the levels of Purgatory<\/strong>, which is shaped like a mountain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    2. At the Top of the Mountain Lies the Earthly Paradise<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    • This place corresponds to the Garden of Eden<\/strong>, the garden where Adam and Eve originally lived.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • In this tradition, Eden is believed to still exist<\/strong>, but is inaccessible to humanity after the Fall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • It is located above the clouds<\/strong>, separated from the ordinary earthly world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      3. Its Role in the Spiritual Journey<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      • The Earthly Paradise marks the final stage of purification<\/strong>: the soul is now free from sin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • It is a transitional point between the human and the heavenly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • In Dante\u2019s story, this is where he meets Beatrice<\/strong>, who then guides him into the heavens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
