Look Beside It. Look Within.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">August 12, 2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow, millions of people will look toward the Sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They will wait for the Moon to cross its face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They will watch the light change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They will photograph the eclipse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They will listen to experts explain what they are seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then they will look away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what if the real experiment begins <strong>before<\/strong> the eclipse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if, instead of telling you what to see, we simply invite you to look?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No predetermined answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No belief required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE QUESTION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conventional astronomical model says that a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NASA describes the August 12, 2026 event as a total solar eclipse whose path of totality crosses Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic and Spain, while much of Europe experiences a partial eclipse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Netherlands, the eclipse will be partial. It begins at approximately <strong>19:14 CEST<\/strong>, reaches its maximum around <strong>20:10\u201320:12 CEST<\/strong>, and ends around <strong>21:02\u201321:07<\/strong>, depending on location. From the Netherlands, totality will not occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard model makes a straightforward prediction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Moon should be positioned between Earth and the Sun.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So here is the experiment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don&#8217;t only watch the eclipse.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Watch what happens before it.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART I \u2014 BEFORE THE ECLIPSE<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose a safe observation location with a clear view toward the western sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Begin observing <strong>well before maximum eclipse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not stare at the Sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use certified solar-viewing glasses or another approved solar filter. Ordinary sunglasses are not sufficient. Never look through binoculars, a telescope, or a camera toward the Sun unless the optical equipment has an appropriate solar filter mounted at the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now do something surprisingly simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take out a notebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Write down:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TIME<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WEATHER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHERE IS THE SUN?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHERE DO I EXPECT THE MOON TO BE?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then record what you actually observe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not interpret yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART II \u2014 THE BLIND SPOT<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where the experiment becomes interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the conventional model, the Moon is in the daytime sky during a solar eclipse. In fact, NASA explicitly explains that solar eclipses occur at new moon, when the Moon and Sun are aligned on the same side of Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet a new Moon is normally extremely difficult to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the illuminated side is facing away from Earth, while the Moon is positioned close to the Sun in our sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So don&#8217;t turn this into a test of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;Can I see the Moon?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That question is too simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;What should I be able to observe from my location if the standard model is correct, and what do I actually observe?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use an astronomical app if you wish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Record its prediction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Record the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Record the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then look at the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And write down what you see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or don&#8217;t see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both are observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART III \u2014 DON&#8217;T LET THE APP ANSWER FOR YOU<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This part is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before opening your app, look at the sky yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Describe what you see without naming it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Bright western sky. Thin clouds. No obvious lunar disk visible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only afterward check the astronomical prediction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because there is a subtle difference between:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>observing something<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>being told where to look for something.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of this experiment is not to prove that an app is wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nor is it to prove that the app is right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is to notice how easily <strong>expectation becomes part of perception<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART IV \u2014 THE ECLIPSE<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around maximum eclipse, observe again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Netherlands, approximately <strong>88\u201391% of the Sun&#8217;s disk will be obscured<\/strong>, depending on your exact location. In Amsterdam, for example, the maximum is about 88.2%; Rotterdam is about 88.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Record:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What changed in the light?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What changed in the landscape?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What changed in the temperature?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What happened to shadows?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What happened to animals or birds, if anything?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What did you expect to happen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What actually happened?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not dismiss small observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not exaggerate them either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simply record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART V \u2014 LOOK BESIDE THE SUN<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now comes the Crown of Light question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a moment, stop looking at the eclipse itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at the <strong>whole sky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eclipse is an enormous event from our perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it occupies only one part of the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What else is happening?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where is the Moon according to your astronomical app?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where are the planets?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where is Leo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where is Regulus?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What can actually be seen with the naked eye?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What cannot?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And what did you assume you would see?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the moment when the experiment changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is no longer merely an experiment about astronomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It becomes an experiment about <strong>attention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART VI \u2014 THREE STORIES<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now write three columns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STORY ONE \u2014 THE CONVENTIONAL MODEL<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What does modern astronomy say is happening?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Write it down without criticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STORY TWO \u2014 THE ALTERNATIVE MODEL<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What alternative explanations have you encountered?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, some authors interpret the Sun and Moon through plasma or firmament-based models rather than the conventional astronomical model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Write those claims down too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But label them as <strong>claims or models<\/strong>, not observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STORY THREE \u2014 WHAT I ACTUALLY SAW<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This column belongs only to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No NASA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No influencer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No spiritual teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just your observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE RULE OF THE EXPERIMENT<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is one rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DO NOT FORCE THE ANSWER.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your observation supports what you expected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">record it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your observation contradicts what you expected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">record it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don&#8217;t know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">write:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I DON&#8217;T KNOW.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That may be the most valuable observation of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the moment we become desperate to make a pattern fit our preferred story, we stop observing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We start defending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PART VII \u2014 THE DEEPER EXPERIMENT<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now comes the part that has nothing to do with proving whether one cosmological model is correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ask yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much of what I saw came from the sky?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much came from the story I brought with me?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think about how easily attention can be directed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A magician directs your attention toward one hand while something else happens somewhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is an even subtler form of misdirection:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>the mind can direct its own attention.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you believe something is significant, you begin seeing it everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you believe something is impossible, you may overlook evidence that challenges you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you believe something is meaningless, you may never investigate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So the real experiment is not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can I prove the official model?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can I disprove it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real experiment is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can I remain present long enough to observe something before turning it into a story?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE CROWN OF LIGHT PRINCIPLE<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sun does not need us to believe in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Moon does not need us to understand it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stars do not need our interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They simply appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eclipse gives us something rare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">a moment when an apparently familiar world becomes strange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Day becomes darker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Light becomes different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The familiar Sun becomes temporarily transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And something normally hidden\u2014the solar corona during totality\u2014can become visible to observers inside the path of totality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps this is why eclipses have fascinated humanity for thousands of years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They interrupt certainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They remind us that the sky is larger than the story we have constructed about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AUGUST 12, 2026<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So tomorrow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But look safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look before the eclipse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look during the eclipse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look after the eclipse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at the Sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at the surrounding sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at your instruments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at your expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And finally\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">look at yourself looking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What did I actually see?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What was I supposed to see?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What did someone tell me I would see?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What do I want this to mean?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What did I see?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE FINAL QUESTION<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the greatest mystery of the eclipse is not what happens to
